Morgan County Schools Budget
Each year, the Morgan County School Board approves a budget. To maintain and improve the Morgan County School System, approximately $17 - 18 million is needed. Of this amount, 69% ($12,329,762) is funded by the state government, 17% ($2,961,994) is funded by the local government, and 4% ($703,860) is funded by the federal government. Also, 10% ($1,773,070) is taken from previous reserves.
The school budget pays for general expenses such as supplies, food service, transportation, and utilities. However, the largest budget item, running at over $5 million, is the salary for professional personnel. Budget expenditures are listed in three main categories: Instruction, Support Services, and Non-Instructional Services. 59% ($9,221,048) of the budget goes to instruction, 32% ($4,937,640) to support services, and 9% ($1,346,496) to non-instructional services.
