Pre-school registration for all Morgan County Schools will begin May 2, 2005. If your child will be five (5) years of age or older on or before September 30, 2005, he or she will be eligible for Kindergarten next fall and will need to register. If your child attended Headstart or any other day care, he/she will also need to register.
It is very important that each parent attend the pre-school registration rather than waiting until school starts this fall. School officials say this registration enables the school system to know how many children to plan for this fall.
The following records should be brought to the pre-school registration:
1) |
Copy of child's official birth certificate (not Mother's copy) |
2) |
Immunization record on green form (Tennessee's Child Health Record) |
3) |
Copy of his/her social security card |
4) |
Physical/health exam (Tennessee Child Health Record) |
5) |
Proof of Residency |
6) |
Copy of Insurance Card (New this year) |
A copy of his/her physical examination must be dated AFTER April 1, 2005 and can be brought this fall. All kindergarten students must have ALL of these items for registration this fall for admission. For Sunbright, the documents do not have to be at school until the day school starts in August.
The Tennessee Child Health Record (green card) has been a requirement since 1986. Any other documentation of immunizations is to be attached to the green card. If a student is up-to-date, but has not completed required immunizations, he/she should have a Temporary Certificate of Immunization. (Both forms are available at your local health department.)
It is important to register your child so they school will know how many children to plan for.

Morgan County Board Policy JGCB, Immunizations, states:
(Issue Date 06/06/1994)
No students entering school, including those entering kindergarten or first grade, those from out-of-state and those from non-public schools, will be permitted to enroll (or attend) without proof of immunization, as determined by the Commissioner of Public Health. It is the responsibility of the parents or guardians to have their children immunized and to provide such proof to the principal of the school which the student is to attend.
Exceptions, in the absence of an epidemic or immediate threat thereof, will be granted to any child whose parent or guardian shall file with school authorities a signed, written statement that such measures conflict with his/her religious tenets and practices; or due to medical reasons if such child has a written statement from his/her doctor excusing him/her from such immunization.
Proof of exception will be in writing and filed in the same manner as other immunization records.
A list of transfer students shall be kept at each school throughout the school year in order that their records can be monitored by the Department of Health and Environment.
